Naztech N321 3-in-1 Charger MSRP: $39.99 Naztech, the name doesn't really ring a bell, and in some instances it shouldn't since they aren't well known. Although, their website is very well presented, and their products appear to be of higher build quality and rather useful. They're not your everyday bargain products. When I received the charger in the mail, I wasn't exactly expecting much. The charger, instead, was better than I expected. What's In The Box 3-in-1 Naztech Charger Storage Pouch Car Charger Cover Micro USB Charging Cable Included (iPhone cable included in updated models) iPhone USB Data Transfer Cable Specifications Cable Length: 4.9' Charge Protection: Short Circuit/Over Charge Input: DC 12-24V Miliamp: 2100mAh Output: 5.2V Design All accessories included The appearance of this charger is rather unique, and is different in appearance compared to the everyday charger. This charger has a glossy finish, as well as a curvy, round, and compact shape, making it easy to hold and carry around. This charger also includes a round cap that covers the car's DC Connector, giving it shape when you're just using the wall portion of the charger. The cool thing about this charger is the blue-LED that is activated upon plugging it in to either the wall or the car, letting you know it's working it's magic. While it's not exactly new to the world of chargers, it's cool to have. Another cool thing included is the carrying case, which essentially is a little soft bag, which makes it easier to bring with you as well as avoid scratches. A small thing that bothers me about this charger, is that when you go to car charge, you can't move the USB head around, so it will always be stuck on one position. If they had executed some sort of lockable ball-joint, it could make charging at all angles easier. Score: ★★★★½ Features Dual USB Charging Outputs Well, the Naztech N321 functions just like your everyday charger. Obviously it's a little different than the everyday charger. There is an added car function that adds the ability to carry around one, rather than two chargers. The charger also features two USB ports allowing for the charging of up to two devices at once. Charging is just as fast as the OEM Apple Charger included with the iPhone, and I assume it charges just as well on Android devices. I've had no problems with the charger, such as connectivity issues that may occur on other chargers. Although this charger is compatible with the iPad, it isn't strong enough to charge it like the Apple chargers would resulting in a much slower charge that takes twice as long. Score: ★★★★½ Build Charger with car adapter cap removed While the charger may look of average build, it really isn't; it's much better. This charger has the build quality close to that found in the Apple USB Wall Charger. The plastic is not thin, cheap, or crackable like the rest of the 3rd party chargers you might find in the wild depths of Best Buy and eBay. The car's DC Connector is also nicely built, as sometimes the metal at the end of car chargers is rather flimsy. While not protected in any way, the metal is taut and seems sturdy. I was also surprised at the durability of the iPod and Mini-USB cables. It's not your average USB wire, it's taut and has a thick wire sleeve, actually making these cables more durable than the one included with the iPhone, iPod, or iPad. Score: ★★★★★ Value Charger (car adapter side) For $40, you're definitely getting what you pay for. The charger has well above average build for a 3rd party charger, and of course it has both car charging and wall charging built right into it. You also get the iPhone charging cable to charge it via USB port on your computer, so long as you get the newer model of the N321. Since some premium quality chargers range from $25-$40 for just ONE type of charger (wall or car), and cables cost anywhere from $5-$15, I think $40 is a pretty good price for the Naztech N321 3-in-1 Charger. The only thing that slightly bothers me is that Amazon has some third-party chargers that are priced around $5-$10, and they're of pretty good build quality and work as advertised. So technically I can just go and buy a USB car charger and a USB wall charger, with the only problem being that they're not integrated into one, which is a convenience. While there are other cheaper chargers out there that do have car and wall integration, they are usually cheaply built. With this charger, you're given the convenience of both car and wall charging, as well as durability. Score: ★★★★ Final Thoughts Whether you're an everyday commuter, you won't ever have to worry about forgetting to bring two chargers with you anymore. The most important aspect of the charger is the build quality, especially for a 3rd party charger. For $40 you're getting what you pay for. The two USB ports are a really cool addition just in case a friend or family member needs to charge another device alongside yours. Of course, let's not forget the sleek aesthetics and blue LED charging light. Overall, I feel that it is well worth the purchase. Final Score: † All prices are in US currency.
