Well, if it's under a year old, take it to an Apple store. As long as there's no obvious signs of abuse or water damage, you should be able to get an over-the-counter exchange.

do i have to bring my parent with me, also the last time i went to bestbuy i saw a big apple logo on a wall do they do the over the counter exchange. also i did the scotchguard trick. what do i have to bring with my ipod to do exchange. here are pictures http://s850.photobucket.com/albums/ab61/markolo25/ also does it have to be specifically an apple store because theres this place called macfusion close to my house, and in the apple site they said that they are apple specialist.

where you rub the back of you ipod with scotch guard and it looks like brushed steel. what if the guy in the apple store dosent notice anything wrong but i know for a fac that there is something wrong with the switch because if feels wrong like theres something missing in the experiance of turning it on

    U will need a recipt.

And don't worry about the back. If they ask, just explain what you did and tell them that you don't mind keeping the casing if it is an issue. Tell them that you just want it fixed.

This happened to my first gen ipod touch. I got a new 3g this christmas and when I was picking up all my 1g ipod stuff to hand over to my dad, I discovered I had a 4 year warranty on it instead of a 2 year like I thought (got it from best buy). So my dad was able to get a refurbished 1g from the geek squad. Easy as that! The best buy where I leave is good with exchanges.
