My itouch wont shut off, like if i hold the power button for the 5 seconds the power switch doesnt appear. Itll just go on standby and if i hit the power button again itll switch back on instantly. so the power button isnt broken. what should i do? this happened after i upgraded to 4.0 os on my itouch 2g?

    DFU restore?

Re-boot first then see what happens, are you jailbroken?

    Cant force re-boot?

Why not? Will it not enter DFU? Maybe the power button is faulty as in it wont make contact for more than just a couple milliseconds to go into sleep but not work for holding it down for powering off or re-booting.

Maybe have to send it to Apple? If you do then first try restoring and setup as a new ipod.

    So, can you re-boot?

If you cant enter DFU mode then your ipod has faulty hardware.
    Period.
