If restarting AMDS does not work a simple uninstall / reinstall of itunes will install a fresh set of drivers for your ipod.

    Before you do that though...

Are you using a USB hub?
Are you plugging into the back of a computer tower or side of a laptop?
What version of itunes do you have installed?

I've tried reinstalling itunes already. Im not using a hub but i do have it plugged in to the side of my laptop.

One other really strange thing was i tried plugging it into my xbox and when i did it froze and when i tried to turn it back on with the ipod plugged in it stared flash three red rings. But when i keep the ipod out it works fine.

Im extremely confused. ive never heard of an ipod doing this.
