I'm listening to music, the volume is at the minimum, if I go one bit lower it is mute.

The problem is that the volume is too loud at this setting, I'm using good ear phone and my earing is excellent.

Is there anyway to lower the volume?

Get some headphones with an in-line volume control.

it's because of the volume settings in the songs - use itunes to lower the volumes, the option to do that should be somewhere in the infos or preferences of the song after rightclick on it

    /EDIT:
right-click on song and then click "Information" (should be the first one) then go to "Options".
perhapsthe descriptions are slightly different 'cuz I'm using german itunes and translated the descriptions out of my mind^^

Not sure about that, matey... But studangerous is right there, you should get headphones that come with in-line volume control... I'm using one by Philips and it helps with playing around with the iPod's volume!

Nothing to let you modify the volume yourself as far as I know but there are some volume boost hacks on Cydia.

Sometimes at night I have the same issue. When everything else is quiet, even low volume seems really loud.

As far as lowering the volume, you can go into iTunes and manually cut volume on song. This will probably work best for you. I *think* you can do it on all songs at once, but only do that if you know for sure that all of the songs are the same volume.

I'd like to know some of these.

    Names and repos?

    And how much louder?

And does it damage the speaker?

    and THAT is the point

instead of making the ipod louder you can decrease the maximum volume and with this the minimum ones also goes down.

just someone please find a manual way to increase volume and post it here please - then I can tell you which things youll have to change
