I was charging my ipod one day and i checked the weather through weather.app.
I left my ipod on which goes into sleep mode after 5 min. After around 20 min, i pressed the home button to wake my ipod on but i was welcomed w/ the unpleasant picture of connecting your ipod to itunes.

In short, my ipod touch force restored it self for no reason, and no i did not accidentally press the top and home button as it was on my shelf w/out clutter.

    Anyone else experience this prob?

Is there anyway to restore to my previous state so i can retrieve my notes, contact info, customized themes, etc

This happened to me once when I was playing a TTR. It is certanatly rare. Hold down home and power button untill iPod turns off then boot up normally. If that doesnt work restore. It will probably never happen again (don't quote me on that I don't know for sure.)

    Hope I helped.

iLiberty+ or Ziphone, you can kick your iPod back into regular mode. On iLiberty+ it is under other tools. Not sure about ZiPhone though.
