    Hehey,

I've had my Touch 2G jailbroken ever since the first tethered jailbreak was released. I haven't upgraded it to a later version nor an untethered jailbreak as a result to my own laziness.. Because really, I haven't had any problems with it. Until now.

My battery went dead, so I (like many times before) connected it to my computer, and tried getting it in DFU mode. Problem is, nothing happened at all. No white screen, nothing. My computer still says that it has found a "unrecognized USB-device", which it always does, but it simply won't go in DFU mode.

Do you have any ideas on what the problem is caused by, and what I should do to bring my iPod back to life?

    Thanks in advance!

You're iPod Touch 2G will enter DFU mode. You are doing it wrong.

Unless it's hardware problem. Then you can get into DFU.

As I said, I've always succeeded with entering DFU before, no problems at all.

Hmmm...does iTunes recognize it, and give an option to restore?

Might be a problem with your computer.

This sounds like youve heard it many times before, but listen:

    Try a different USB Port.
    Use a timer.
    Try different operating systems.

Apple's computers (Mac) have more support for their own type of device, plug it into a Mac, and you will probably get detected.

I dont think you need to try any of those steps other than USE A TIMER, trust me, it helps.

And dont you think with 3.0 and redsn0w, its time to get out of tethered?
Didnt you ever think that you shouldnt have to plug it into a computer to turn it on?

    Good Luck,

I'm really happy to say that using Windows XP instead of Windows 7 fixed the problem. Thank you very much, iAppleCentral®!

And yes, I'm about to update my iPod now.
