Ok, so I saw here on a post, someone said "MC Models are 3G" I got a new one recently under warranty, replacing my old 2G.
I have a MC model, serial is MC---- etc

But I connected it to Spirit, it says Ready: iPod Touch 2G 3.1.3

So is it 3G or 2G?

    It's in the grey zone between 2G & 3G.

It's got a 3G's bootrom (more jailbreak resistant), but has the speed of a 2G.

It's irrelevant to Spirit though, it'll jailbreak fine, still untethered.

It's a 3G bootrom wise, but a 2G speed and hardware wise. Since it was released with the new bootroms it is called a 3G normally since it has that bootrom. It will work just fine with spirit though.

I know it works fine with Spirit, I was just wondering.
Do I have the battery life of the 3G? It seems to last longer

I'm pretty sure it's a joke. I've seen people with iPad w/ 3G running 1.0 jailbroken, and people with jailbroken Nanos.

    If it's an 8-gig it's a 2G.

The 8gb MC model did not get updated like the 32 and 64gb. SO in fact it is a 2gen packaged as a 3gen iPod.
