My iPod started draining its battery very quickly a few months ago. It got so bad that if I took it off my iLive be4 i went to bed at 100% charge and left it on standby til 5 am it would be so dead it would shut itself down all the way and id have to boot it up all the way and then have to leave it at home to charge again. It currently has 1.1.3 FW and SSH is always off but WIFI is always on and I set it to check email every 15 min. I just got done replacing the Battery myself from iFixit (pretty reasonable for 15 bucks!) and it still only lasts 6 or 7 hours(approx. 2 days of very light usage). Ive always taken great care it and i dont know whats wrong. Any ideas??

Update to 2.1 and don't jailbreak. Then record how long your battery lasts. Then Jailbreak (If you so choose) and record that battery life.

    ebay is the answer!!

    alternatives:
1.I have an idea. why not sell it on ebay with a picture of a good quality ipod for the same amount with freebies. and buy another 1g. Is there any for sale this days?
    2. Upgrade to firmware 2.1 and jailbreak it. see the results. and every time you close an app make sure you hold the menu button to close the app.
    hope this helped.
Got the #1 idea from the forum itself.

The iPod Touch 1G gulps battery juice like no end, especially with firmwares under 2.0.

Background processes running is not the best idea, especially when you''re not using it (AKA sleeping).

Go to 2.1, the battery life is much better.
If you're REALLY concerned, get a 2G, although you won't be able to jailbreak yet.
