My home button just broke today. I was wondering if I should take it to Apple. I restored and upgraded to 2.2 already so there are no traces of a JB... I purchased my ipod touch 8gig at bestbuy around March..

Would my warranty fix it ? Give me a refurb ? Or give me a new ipod touch? Man im so bummed, I cant do sh*t without my home button.. I gotta use SB Settings.. Thank god that still works.

Make sure you restore it first. They will give you a refurb if it's under warranty.

If you do some Googling you'll find lots of people saying that there is ALWAYS traces of JB left if Apple wants to look and some people are saying that Apple now have a diagnosis tool to plug your iPod into and they run a program.

Good luck with your replacement, hopefully you won't have a prob.

Don't listen to any of this. They do run diagnostics on it but aren't loking for jailbreaks. The home button issue is common and takes about 3 mins to figure out, 3 mins of paperwork, and you are out the door with a refurb.

But if you restore, none of the stuff that's causing those error messages (like WinterBoard and Five Icon Dock.dylib) will be there.

I'm not saying one way or another who is right (I don't know) what I do know is that after doing literally hours of research on this, that the opinions of those "who reckon they know" is varied -
