    So i downloaded a few free apps from the app store- fring, facebook, etc

    they worked when i got them and i then tried loading them again a few hours later and i realized they all crash and go back to the homepage the next few seconds.

    so for example if i were to click on fring, it'd show the fring header and around 2-3 seconds later it reverts back to the homepage.

    whats going on and how do i fix this?

    A couple things you can do.

    1. Restart you iPod

    2. Download a random free app and delete it. Should work after that.

    3. If those don't work, restore your iPod.

    Does anyone have a guess as to when they will fix this. It's really bugging me, because it happens to this 1 app every day. Even when i get it to stop, the next day it is crashing again.

    No good my friend. It only goes away when i download an app then delete it, but then it comes back the next day. Im just going to restore it, easy enough.

    Yeah restore would probably be the best solution since the problem happens the next day. Do you leave your phone on too long sometimes?

    Just delete the apps and resync? Instead of restoring, maybe?

    tried deleting/reinstalling/resyncing apps. the routine still continues.

    I'm just gonna restore it.. but before i do;
    what does restoring essentially do anyways? Will i be assured my apps will not crash anymore?

    Restore will basically kill the current System partition and then rewrite it with the one that's in the firmware release you pick (Shift-Restore) or the one for the latest firmware version. A factory restore kills everything, System and Media partitions. Also, when you restore it'll give you the option of putting your last backup onto the iPod again - I advise against this if you had to restore due to system issues (like crashing apps).
