I have tried every single method possible.

I have obviously used the basic methods, both in DFU and Recovery mode. Didn't work.

I have tried renaming the firmware file. Didn't work.

I have tried almost every suggestion ever given to me. Didn't work.

SOMEONE please give me an alternative method of restoring. I'm always getting either error 20 or error 1600 and It's really getting me down

When I tried renaming the file that one time, I got so far as a different error number (woo!), error 1604.

    PLEASE HELP!!!

if you just bought them, it wont work... just like you did, i tried every single methods but it didnt work. at first time, it says 1602 error and later on you probably have error called 20. in that case, you definetly bought new 2g 8gig. (some people call this as 2.5 gen.) my bro and sis got the 2g but that was early version so i was able to jailbreak them even though they accidently upgrade into 3.1.1. i guess time will solve our problem. i am thinking we have to wait a month at most?

Is it a 3G iPod Touch? If that's so, then Mr Threetothefour is right. Otherwise, try the DFU method again. Make sure you download the right version for your ipod' generation

If this is a new 8GB iPod touch (i.e. a '3rd gen') then you can't downgrade it.

    No it's not.

Are you sure. Then why can't the 'new/updated' 3G ipod touch 8G be downgraded?
