Ok so i tried to ssh my library to another laptop and some of the songs transfer their names while most have the 4 character thing ex. MTWX

So i decided that i dont wnat to rename a bunch of songs i have no idea of the name. My question is instead of doing that could i just ssh songs from my computer to my ipod touch i tried before but it didnt show. But if i rename them to the 4 character name would the ipod accept the song???

Ill clarify if you dont understand i need help with this

    thanks for reading

No. The files are recorded in the iPod's database. I suppose you could swap mp3s, but it would probably end up with mixed information on your end.

If you import the 4character files into iTunes, it will recognize the ID3 tags and the songs will show as normal. Same if you resync them to the iPod.

I did do that but some songs still retain the 4 character name
