It shouldnt be the problem... but uninstall it and see if it fixes it.

I have this problem too, I figured out that Music works fine so long as you don't let it quit, basically by opening up the player and selecting a song ensures it runs. If you open up the player and don't do anything, or if you only play a video, the player closes and won't open until you restart the SpringBoard. It might be Backgrounder. Do you have the Pandora Controls package installed? I wonder if it's that.
--Edit: It looks like the perpetrator is Pandora Controls. Maybe it was some respring magic, but Music no longer crashes on launch the second time around and the Backgroundimg badge remains on the icon. I'm going to try reinstalling Pandora Controls now.

Reinstalling Pandora Controls caused the problem to recur. I set a bug report to the dev behind Pandora Controls.

uhmmm... I had a problem with mine... it closed shortly after i hit the home button... and with backgrounder i went in.. and set it to Always Enable.... and now it works fine... I think with the new update... it might have made the Music/iPod work like a normal app?
