I was just adding stuff to my Ipod Touch.

I got about half way through my music folder, to M, and stopped to go watch the Rugby. I've just got back now, and my ipod has no songs on, plugging it into my PC, itunes comes up with the error:
"itunes cannot read the contents of the ipod. Go to the summary tap in ipod preferences and click Restore to restore this ipod to factory settings"

Now, I can do all that, I was just wondering why this has happened, so I can stop it happening again.

OH! well then i would say thats just an internal error. i would suggest having the latest version of itunes installed, having you ipod plugged into a high speed 2.0 USB port, and also makin sure all you song files are not corrupted or unfound.
