During Steve's WWDC keynote he gave a demo of multi-tasking or running an app in the background, in this case it was Pandora. I downloaded and installed iOS 4 GM and still cannot get that to work.

Am I to assume that the Pandora developers gave Steve a newer version? The one you can download from the app store quits when going to another app.

Yes. Steve Jobs was running a newer version of Pandora on stage. Be prepared to update Pandora on the 21st, since that is the release date of iOS4.

Many apps will have updates available on the 21st which will take advantage of Multitask.

Pandora is one of the main reasons I wanted multi-tasking...the suspense is killing me!

By the way, do we get to choose which applications are on the multi-tasking list?

No, they all multitask after they are opened. But it's more like pausing to be honest, so no memory is taken up, or at least not a lot.

No like say I am in Notes, then I double hit the home button to activate multi-task. I look through the list to be disappointed that AcroBible isn't in the list. I often switch between Notes and AcroBible. Multi-tasking with those two applications would be very helpful. Not every application is in that list.

You need an iPod touch 3G or an iPhone 3Gs in order to get multitasking...

    (unless you hack...)

I'm not sure how it works, but i guess every application will just be paused until you reopen it.

I am guessing that the Pandora multi-task feature is going to be an in-app purchase. I'd assume that this would be another way for them to earn money, without actually charging for their music.

Hopefully it's not too expensive, if any.
