I have jailbroken 2nd Gen ipod Touch with 4.0 firmware that has multitasking enabled. It seems that device is trying to keep every single application in the background even when I don't want to. This is eating memory like crazy and I have to keep killing processes via SBSettings. Is this normal behavior of the 4.0 or there's some way to prevent apps staying resident?

Thanks! I had backgrounder before I upgraded to iOS 4. Does background disable native multitasking in 4?

No, But you can set backgrounder to only background an app when you double press the home button
