Backgrounder will allow apps to continue running in the background.

It already does that. You just can't run 3rd party, non-Apple apps in the background. If you Jailbreak, you can use Backgrounder. Beware of your battery life though. And the speed of your device.

If you have a jailbroken ipod touch there are many ways that you can multi task.
I will provide links to the youtube videos that will demonstrate what I say here.

If you have a jailbroken ipod touch or iphone background is an essential tool that allows you to run applications in the background. the only downside is that it uses more system memory and can slow down your device and it takes a toll on your battery.

For ways to multi task I found 2 ways that are great.
One is Mquickdo. This allows you move through applications easily.

Another way to multi task is by using Multifl0w
It essentially works with backgrounder and allows you to see a overview of backgrounded applications for easy access

all these programs can be found on cydia

Here are the links to the youtube videos to give you a better understanding of what they do:

    Backgrounder:

    I hope this helps =]
