I am a teacher at a Secondary (K-12) school in the UK. We have recently purchased 30 iPod Touch devices for a pilot looking at mobile learning.

However, our network web service requires that users type in their username and password to the network in order that they can access the internet. It is the same on the iPod. I have entered the proxy server and my username/password and can access the internet just fine.

The problem is that I don't want 30 kids all using my username/password - they need to use their own.

So, I was wondering if it is possible to have an app automatically launch upon unlock, that will require users to enter their web username password (as found the network settings of the touch) before they can go any further. I really want to limit the kids going into settings themselves.

It should be noted that these iPods will be used with various classes, so I can't just enter a class set of username/password info and leave it at that.

Is there such a thing? Can you help?

    Many thanks in advance

No such thing, closest thing to locking your iPod touches will be having it jailbroken, using Lockdown to lock the Settings application and so forth, sorry for the lack of more help but yeah, if there's a way, this forum will tell you.
