I have downloaded an MPEG-4 file and have made sure I have named it correctly: Video.mp4 etc. I have tried every different name I can think of.

This is the error I get when trying to transfer the file to my ipod touch 16gb :

"M4V00004.mp4 cannot be copied to ____ iPod because it cannot be played on this ipod"

Yet I grab another video of mine with the EXACT same attributes (MPEG-4 and mp4) and put it on my iPod and it does it straight away with no problems.

Now this would most probably happen when the file is currupt yet I can watch the video in iTunes and Quicktime...

MPEG-4 is just a format container. The actual specifications (video and audio encoding type, bit rate, resolution, etc.) of the video itself could be different between two MP4 videos. The iPod supports only very specific MPG and MP4/M4V types. Download a copy of Videora and run the non-working video through it to convert it to an iPod Touch-specific format.

    Helping!

If you have the file on itunes (if you dont put it there) Right click it and there will be an option saying convert for ipod and convert for iphone/ipod touch. Click that and it will convert it for you... then it should be good to go on the ipod.
