It's not formatted properly for the ipod. Get a conversion program with ipod presets.

Did you buy it in HD? iPod doesn't support HD. I bought a HD tv episode and had the same problem. For tv episodes, each HD episode also comes with a normal version, not sure if it's the same with movies. If it is, try the standard version.

if im not mistaken, there are different types of mp4's. The iPod probably supports only one type. The best solution would be to use a video converter such as videora iphone converter, with ipod presets.
