Not surprising. As soon as Apple makes a truly affordable Macintosh, this will change.

Can they make a "Geek Version" and a normal version of Mountain Lion? Personally, I think Lion is just right if there is to be any integration at all. From what I've seen, Mountain Lion takes it too far for my taste. I can only dream though.

As much as I would like to see this (£529 w/o a KB/M/Monitor is not cheap especially since you may also have to buy office, etc.), I doubt this will happen unless maybe they make the switch to ARM which I also doubt for now.

Just use iWork. It's a much better suite. But yes, you're certainly correct.

    $1000 difference...... approx. 4 iPods = Mac. 4x356= x, 1x356= y.

Uhhh, Macs start at about $1000 and iPhones about $200. I'm not surprised at this really, but you're comparing a smartphone to a laptop and saying Macs are overpriced. I don't see your logic at all.

I'd expect iDevices to sell more anyway...

I think the Mac prices are fine. Obviously they're high, but I don't mind it actually.
