So far with 2.0 I have to say battery life seems to be vastly improved. Jailbroken using wifi would burn out the battery for me in under an hour.

    Well, for me...
In AppStore and playing games, I get more battery life.
But doing regular stuff like YouTube or music or Safari, it seems to me that JB is longer.

App Store generally has the better battery life cause the SDK is "supposed to be optimized" as opposed to the unofficial SDK.

Of course App Store games seem to take up more, cause they're like 10 times better and use up a ton of graphics.

Battery life has Improved a lot in 2.0... before, when i use to watch a movie or straight videos for like 2 hours.. the batter would drop down to 50.. now, it only drops down to like 80-85% which is a great improvement

Overall.. I know you're talkin about app store and jail breaking.. but for a longer lasting ipod, i think you should go with 2.0 (with the app store feature)
