I have the 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 .ipsws for the iPod touch 2G *MC* model. Currently, I am jailbroken and have access to the filesystem via SSH and USB. I have HFSExplorer to open DMG images.
I want to add the native battery percentage toggle as well as some other PLIST based hacks to the IPSW so it is there when I need it unjailbroken. I try to open the first .dmg in the ipsw, and it says there is a password for it. The other 2 are "unsupported".
    Can anyone share their wisdom?

I believe RedSn0w has custom package support which may help as RedSn0w is compatible with 3.1.3.

But not for his iDevice. It only works on MB and MA devices(iPhone 1g, iPhone 3g, iPod touch 1g, iPod touch 2g MB)

To the OP, if you jailbreak there is SBSettings which has a battery percentage toggle.

If you modify the contents of an IPSW, the signatures won't pass checks, and you won't be able to restore with it.

    You're welcome, Palz.
