So when you download a game or application there is an IPA file placed in the ~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications. Would it be possible, for proof of concept only, to modify the contents of that IPA file and then install the modified application on a non-jailbroken iPod Touch or iPhone. Inside the IPA file is the applications metadata in .plist form, and the actual executable inside a folder called Payload. Would it be possible to replace the executable and modify the metadata accordingly to effectively make one app into a completely different one? Has anyone tried this?
