mccleary is just our username of our computer. however it asks for a password, but we dont have a password on our account. so i hit enter and it says invalid password? do i need a password for our pc account, or do i have to put something in place of the password in mobile terminal? pls help

Your username is always root, and your password is alpine.
    Try those.

You have to make a password using root, "passwd mccleary"
then it will ask for a password and you should be good

Everyone who replied to this thread so far completely misread the OP. He's trying to connect TO his home computer FROM his iPod.

@OP 127.0.0.1 is the address (IPv4) used for the loopback connection (hostname == localhost). You need the hostname or IP of your home computer (the target machine).

I got it, but I totally forgt about the address. Thought it looked odd. That's the address I use to ssh myself since mobileterminal dosent work on 4.0

. Ok try command ifconfig and look at the ip address on eth1 or something like that, that's your PC ip address

Type ifconfig on your computer to get the ip address you really want after that replace the 127.0.0.1 with the new ip address it should work then

I believe you should just have a general IP...
But, what SSH client are you using on your computer to have SSH.
