Minecraft lags like crazy on Mac, yet on Windows it runs fine?

    You're playing it on a hackintosh, chances are something isn't working right. Minecraft runs fine on both my MBPs in both OS X and Windows 7.

    Minecraft does indeed run very slow for me. On Snow Leopard on a 2.6Ghz Quad Xeon Mac Pro w/ 5.6 GB of RAM.

    Windows 7, however, runs it smooth as a cucumber for me though.

    Probably OpenGL vs DirectX? It also has no form of antialiasing, which Windows does seem to.

    I guess it's not fair for me to compare, although I will note that recently my minecraft performance has gone down pretty significantly on my MBP. It may be because I'm mostly on servers, specifically my own server being run from my PC, but I've had to bump up the fog to "Stage 2" (stage 3 being all the way up). No surprise it runs really well on my PC.

    That's what I was thinking, I think my processor isn't being used right :/ Flash also lags a ton.

    Haha Flash runs like crap on OS X, there's nothing you can do about that I'm afraid heh.

    Last time I checked, Minecraft was a Java app, which is indeed, not Flash.

    We were just talking about the performance of flash on Mac, and how it was slow. I thought it was just my hackbook, but apparently flash is slow on real Macs too.

    On my computer it lags like crazy on windows and on linux its just fine
    On windows i get no more than 10fps and on linux I can turn everything to max and get like 25fps if i have no other programs running

    I think it has something to do with the driver of your video card.

    Still seems weird how a game that looks like minecraft runs so bad on some PC's.

    Back when I had a REALLY crappy computer with terrible processor & no video card can run the original Counter-Strike or any of the Half-Life graphic games.

    And yet Minecraft can't even run on newer PC's...
