Reality! And just to prove a point...

You can now access the Office web apps right on your iPad by visiting http://office.live.com

Yes, it's proper Office, and you can send, attach mails and do all of the other funky things that you usually do on desktop office. Only downside is that now you need some sort of internet connection to do it, but... you know...

Oh and Microsoft Word is not working to me for some reason. Perhaps a luckier soul in here will have better luck? Screenshots in a bit.

Note: you need a Windows Live account for it to work. Also, when you sign in, there should be a link at the bottom that says "PC site", click on it and you will be taken to a folder manager that lets you create new Office documents.

Yeah this went live yesterday, you get 25GB of skydrive space to host your files and can edit and access them anywhere. Pretty handy, tried out the excel app when it was still in beta, worked pretty well.

Word is still not working... I think they might be updating it or something. It froze on me in other browsers when the loading got to 95%, whereas in Safari, it just won't load at all. Excel and PowerPoint are fine, though, and I think they present a more familiar interface to those who dislike Keynote and Numbers.

Are you saying you can create documents in Skydrive from your iPad? I can access files created on my desktop in Skydrive and then can download to Docs To Go, Pages or Goodreader but cannot create or edit in Skydrive itself, unless I am missing something.

Or scroll to the bottom and click on "PC Site."
