Well, now this is an interesting shift in business direction for Microsoft... At least it's a refreshing change from the usual Windows and MS Office products they are known for, all these years! :)

Hopefully they make quality products like Apple. It will be interesting if they become an Apple-like company and start selling computers of their own. *shudder*

What are you talking about? Microsoft have always made quality products. Even if not computers, but their computer accessories. And also, that won't happen. Their will always be companies that will make their computers run Windows OS. And what's wrong with it if they do? Why the shudder? They've been successful in the past, they could definitely do it again.

Of course they have been successful. Now Apple is more successful. Ten years from now Microsoft will be more successful, and after that other companies will be more successful. I may say though that people go back to the company that they really like and so far that is Apple. Great and respectful customer service.

Windows used to be better than OSx. Now OSx is better. It will be interesting to see the consumer reaction to Windows 8. Naturally they will love it on the tablet and a select percentage of geeks who love Windows 8 on their laptop are gonna love it. The main concern is people like my dad, who is switching to Mac because of Windows 8's confusing interface. He hates it.

Here is a video. If you don't want to watch the whole thing, more than half of it is spent where the dad is trying to find the start button.

i don't it's about which is better, OS X or Windows. it's about what do you prefer. i've been on Windows all my life. and i prefer it, tho not much over OS X. but for my work and day to day use, i'm more comfortable on Windows. like that video, when my friend let me use his MBP 2011 on Lion, i didn't even know how to quit the full screen app. it's took few more times to let me get good on it with all gesture and major UI. and this wasn't the first time i was on OS X. i was using my bro MBP late 2009 with Snow Leopard back then.

With Windows 8, old mouse with replace with touch based mouse i think. like Magic Mouse (tho i prefer track pad over M. Mouse) gesture on Win8 is a big thing. it's pretty awesome how gesture on mouse on windows 8, solve most of problem that people mind find upgrading from WinXP-7 to 8. These logitech product as well as MSFT's touch mouse are what i want when i'm running Windows 8.

So then why did you say OSX is better?
It's better for YOU is what I believe you meant to say.

self Facepalm. Yep, my bad. OSx is better for me. It just is better for doing photography (iPhoto, Aperture), videos (iMovie/FCPx), Drumset recording (Garageband), etc. for me. I'm more of an artsy person, and Macs are better at Artsy stuff. Sure I haven't spent money on Applications for the PC to do Artsy stuff, but 90% of what I need comes on the Mac already as stock programs. There is no way anything stock on a PC beats iLife. Just saying.

I could write one hundred ways to go either way, but it's ultimately up to you (in the sense of the buyer no specifically you ;) ) which system you want to use.
