I tried to look for that on the net but there are so many different things they say.

I had an ipod touch 2g mb model, which I finally gave to my gf when i bought an ipt3g, coming with an earphone equipped with mic working perfectly.

When I tested the earphones on the ipt 2g, the mic did not work.
I then bought a cheap $1 earphone on ebay which specify it 'should' work with ipt2g, the phones worked but not the mic.

Though I doubt the quality of the $1 earphone,I'm asking myself if the 2g isn't faulty.

Does anyone who already used a mic on the ipt 2g help me plz.

That's because the 2g doesn't have enough pins in the headphone jack to support the iPhone mic and remote. It's a hardware thing.

I have an iPod touch 2g and bought the Gigaware® Microphone and Track Control for iPhone® or iPod® from Radioshack and it worked perfectly. You plug it into your headphones and it adds to mic functionality.

There is no earphones with mic that would work (that I know of but doubt if there would be).

    EDIT: overruled.
