Hi, I'm looking for an app that lets me connect to my MSN messenger,
and stayes connected even when I press the Home button and enters another app.
maybe it makes a sound when a msg is received, or something.

    tnx

SDK Rules do not allow Background Processes. You are out of luck. Sorry.

Well, Beejive indirectly lets you do it as the program allows you to remain connected through their web server. As long as you have a push email account, Beejive will send you an email notification when someone engages you in chat and/or when you are eventually disconnected.

It works really well, although I did feel slightly cheated because the ad hype for Beejive led us to believe that the app itself actually kept you connected, which it doesn't. This feature is why I paid the hefty price for it so it was a little annoying that it had to go through the email loop thing. Luckily I do have my own domain so I have set up an email acount specifically for the iPod.

I'm uncertain as to how much of a time delay it has from when someone contacts you and I hear the beep of an incoming email.

If Apple ever comes out with the application background push, then Beejive will notify you immediately when a new message is received, without having to use the email push. The email push is just a bridge to wait for Apple to come out with true app push.

As I happen to have a jailbroken iPod I just installed Backgrounder. Not nearly as scary as I feared. Trying it with the Tuner radio app now and it works GREAT! No bugs or system crashes so far. Will try it With BeejiveIM tomorrow since nobody I know seems to be online right now. This is extremely cool stuff!

i think fring does the trick, right?

Unless it signs me in and out everytime i hit home button and back and im unaware if it, it seems as if im consitantly logged in until wi-fi or battery is off.

Apple should release PUSH already, it'll make things a lot easier.
