I'm trying to get a iPad but as of now i still can't afford the 16GB but i was wondering if someone who owns one can tell me how much memory it really contains. for example i have a 16gb iPod touch but it only has 14.5GB capacity. can someone tell me the capacity of a 16GB iPad?

14 GB. this is due to the extra space thats needed for the larger OS.

The OS isn't really even that large. The correct reason would be how a manufacturer classifies a GB.

It's also a limitation of the way computers work, since 1000 MB = 1GB according to 'common sense' and manufacturer decisions, but 1024 MB's what a computer would actually see as a gigabyte, so 16gb = 16000 MB = 15.6 GB in terms of actual storage. Then you lose a few hundred megs to the OS and swap space, and more space to the file tables, which ends up taking a gig of storage by the time it's all done with.

I think that most of the people have wanted to going with 32 gig. It had been enough for them and also more useful. But According to me, I have gone with 64 gig, After got that gig, My computer had been worked so far and also pretty coll. I know that It will be so expensive But It would be also heplful more than previously.

I have the 16gb, which says it really has 14gb, I wish I had gotten a 32, I barely have any space left, if you want movies DEFENITELY get a 32gb or 64gb.

I think you have "memory" and "storage" mixed up. You are talking about how much storage the iPad has....ie. 16, 32, 64gb. The memory in the iPad is only 256mb.

Well multiply the advertised storage times .93 then subtract .5 and that is your available space in a nut shell. This is because when memory is formatted it loses 7% of the capacity, then the iPad OS partition is 500 MB I believe.
