Saurik reccomends all iPod Touch 3rd Generation users (iPod 3,1) to also use the new signature server to ensure downgrading/jailbreaks in the future.

    Check out the tweet here.

EDIT: How or where this is possible for iPod 3,1 remains to be seen...

So should we be on 3.1 to do it? or 3.0? Please be clear.

Why and how. but yea, you need to be jailbroken. Or if you want the files saved on his server for yourself to be extra safe, during a usual recovery with iTunes, your signed iBEC is stored at /tmp on Mac OS X or %TEMP% on Windows. During DFU mode restore the signed iBSS is written there also. So you have to do one regular restore and one DFU to grab the files. You have to be quick though, they are only there for a moment. Save them somewhere safe.
