Well the touch doesn't have any moving parts in it so it shouldn't affect it too much. Unless magnets somehow affect the lcd?

Magnetism and electricity are related, magnetism can create electricity, and electricity can create magnetism. So bad things can happen if you put a magnet near an ipod. If anyone here has any experience with CRT monitors, magnets can damage them.

Also dont buy ipod touch leather cases that use magnets to lock the cover down as you get th esame problem. I got one for £5 and when i put my ipod into it I caught the on bbutton and I got a load or rubbish on the screen. I closed it down and restarted and all was ok thank god.

Why was there a copper coil in your pocket?

Seriously, you are lucky the magnet wasn't stronger. Electronic do not like magnetic fields, it can damage/destroy electronics.

Really!? I had no idea. I figured the magnet was too weak to do any damage...afterall, the thing was DESIGNED to work on the iPod....hmmm...thanks for the warning.....
