maybe unfixable ? i need a genius lol ! help much appriciated!!

    hey ive got an ipod touch 1st generation.
    i tried updating it to 3.0 for free and it crashed while updating and now its just stuck in recovery mode..
    plug into computer press restore i get a "1604 Error" and when i put it in DFU Mode i get a "1601" error
    ive tried deleting the files in itunes folder..
    ive tried it on diffrent computers..
    ive tried re-installing itunes..

    can anymore help me ?

    err, well, since you got it for free, we cannot help you without breaking da rules

    you can try getting 3.1.2 from itunes, i bet that oneĀ“s free

    then you can try again with an original (legal) firmware from apple

    maybe the once you got was somehow corrupted

    it wont restore to any firmware.. i just get an error after it says preparing ipod for restore

    are you sure its in dfu?
    does it display the progress bar with the apple on top of it?

    yes cos its just a blank screen and it comes up in itunes, and then says waiting for ipod... thn i get an error

    okai, this may seem frustrating, but you have to wait for it to drain the battery, i dont know how much it will take

    then you can get it back to itunes

    Make sure your iTunes is on the newest version.

    Next, download iREB.

    Go into dfu mode, then run iREB.

    Restore to your firmware file using iTunes. (I reccomend 3.1.2)
