    Here's an idea:
    -Make a pwnagetool/sn0wbreeze/xpwn 4.1 ipsw.
-Use iBooty on 3.1.2 to pwn iBoot.
-Restore, but skip nor flash (use idevicerestore/unplug before firmware flash)
-Copy the ibec, devtree, etc. from PWNED ipsw, name them with the *.40 <-- this is important!
-(if at recovery mode screen) run booty callz and enjoy!
-(if in [fake] DFU) my method doesn't work

/ you didn't pull it out fast enough

And you got a tethered jailbreak.
If I'm wrong let me know.

Why don't you test your own method out before we do

Lol, I Second that. Either way, Cydia is handicapped on 4.1 so it would be useless.

If I understood any of that, I would try it

As is, it would appear I'm not tech-savvy enough in the language of jailbreaking

I was under the impression it was, in fact, impossible to software-brick an iPod (or at least extremely difficult). You can always enter recovery mode by holding down home button and plugging it in to your computer.

There is NO way to brick an ipod touch via software. NO way.
If the NOR firmware (including iBoot/recovery mode) is corrupt, restore (DFU is ALWAYS there)
