I made a new program and would like some feedback.

The program is called: PC Lock

Essentially, this program was created for those who don't like to leave their laptop unattended.

With this program, users will be able to head to the bathroom or grab a snack (in a public area) without worrying about leaving their computer defenseless.

If you are away from your computer, and the computer is tampered with, your computer will start to fight back (via alarm and/or script actions).

    FAQ
    ################################################

    What does this program do?

--Assuming all triggers were selected in the configuration pane (Control Panel), your computer will be locked and will monitor the status of the computer. If any trigger becomes activated, your computer will set off an alarm, and run a desired script (advance users--see bellow).

What will trigger the Pc Lock?

--USB trigger: Tampering with a USB drive (unplug/plugin of a usb device),
--Power Trigger: Disconnecting the computer from an AC power source
--Power Trigger: Attempting to power off the device (i.e. hibernation, sleep, or shutdown),
    --Mouse Trigger: Mouse movement

Can I select what triggers the PC Lock to go off?

--Yes by selecting the advance mode option, during the time of configuration. You can also define the program's action, when a trigger has been activated.

How can I unlock my computer.
--Type in the correct password and press enter.

Thanks in advance for your input.

That's a bad idea leaving your laptop in public isn't it? Who cares bout the lock they can just grab the whole thing and run off with it lol.

You can use one of those table lock things to make sure someone can't just take it.

sorry i dont see the point to be honest because you can set the laptop so that when you press CTRL + ALT + DEL to come up with a menu where there is a lock computer button. i wouldnt tink you would need an alarm if nobody knows your password.

Also, once the laptop is unplugged (or attempted power suspension, usb tamper, or mouse movement), an alarm will go off. I am sure a crook wants to run off with a laptop with an alarm calling people's attention, and hence, drawing potential witnesses (/sarcasm) . Also with the script feature, you can have webcam screenshot emailed to you.

Although its true, that it would not be wise to leave your laptop alone, this is a least better then having no defense.

@Will: True, but if someone is unplugging my computer, to steel it, I want an alarm to go off and a webcam script to email me any pictures it can take.

Thanks. I just want feedback. I am not telling people to leave their laptop around in a public place. Nor am I claiming to have found the perfect solution, however I just want user input (about graphics, ideas, functionality, bugs...).

But for the e-mailing part, wouldn't it need to be connected to Wi-Fi?

    Yes...

If you are in a cafe, school, or library, you might want to log on to the internet before activating the lock (supposing you are using an internet based script).
