well I've seen those guides on here and other places that tell you how to disable daemons to save memory. they have the "do" list, the "do not" list and a few "maybe" lists. anyway I've messed around with launchctl and I was able to disable a few more. I have a 1g iPod touch and here's a tasklist readout:

    kernel_task
    launchd
    notifyd
    mDNSResponder
    configd
    sbsettingsd
    lockdownd
    mediaserverd
    fairplayd
    configd
    SpringBoard
    apsd
    TaskList

that's only 11 processes required to make the iPod run without problems (at least problems that I know of). plus tasklist app and the sbsettings daemon. anyway this is the bare minimum for functionality. I thought I'd share my findings. BTW other daemons run but exit after like 20 seconds or less for instance SCHelper/installd/securityd so if you try and duplicate this wait a minute before listing processes

[[BE CAREFUL]] it's pretty easy to kill your device this way.

installd disabled means no App installation on the run

securityd, probably means no security (lol)

    SCHelper is fine

they aren't disabled and they start, they just exit on their own after they do whatever it is they do. I've installed apps since my last launchctl adjustment.
only problem I've seen is MadvLock won't work without commcenter.
