I dont know if its been asked before but is there maps offline for 2.0 yet?
if youcant find it in cydia then no
well thats not strictly true... not all apps are released via either cydia or installer. for instance i use an app called frist which is basicly the same as pocket touch except i prefer it and pocket touch crashes for me whatever i do... i had to download the .app folder and ssh it in. it hasnt been released on cydia...
it´s not yet on 2.0 ported.
there is i have it but its so hard to use. I have maps offline on my jailbroken 1st generation ipod touch 8gb firmware 2.0. I am having sooooo much difficulty figuring out how to use GMDL to create maps. I managed to find a sample map to download but I can't even see it after I press link in offline maps and then go look at maps.app. If anyone is good with this, please write instructions on how to make maps, and actually be able to use them. Thanks!
yeah they should make it so that the entire map of the USA is stored on your iPod automatically, it should work with the regular maps app.
I still don't understand how it works..it was like i opened the app, closed it 'cause i couldn't find anything i wanted to know, i went into Maps, switched iPod's WiFi off, went to Maps again and everything had loaded...but i guess it's like the car with the key that opens the door when you're near to it. Did you leave the car unlocked? lol
Wow....Thats the stupidest thing I've heard.....It called a cache. That why the map showed up. Do some reading and you will find the answers. A new map converter is out for the 2.2 firmware.
Do you know how BIG that file would be???
Having even just one state stored would be bigger than the ipod can hold.
well, how do actual gps units do it?
do they have 8 gigs or more of storage?
plus they have POI and satellite and sometimes even 3D images.
