Maps Location wrong?

    Hy there!

    so i got my new iphone 3g and wanted to locate myself on google maps, taped the button, waited... and i found out that i am near "Studrup" in denmark... i always thought im living in austria... exactly 1.292km and 11h 17min drive time away....

    can anyone help me or explain this? ^^

    does it do the same location if you put in your address?

    No its totaly different... My Adress doesnt have anything to do with it

    thats wierd this has only happened to me once then it started working again but other than that i dont know whats wrong

    Thats funny. A few minutes ago mine was saying I was in the dead center of Sweden when i live in South Carolina here in the US.

    ok Problem solved, it was my wlan router. Don't know why but when i turn it of, it's perfect.

    does the new ipod touch firmware (2.0) need wifi to be able to use google maps and the locate me feature?

    I found this thread while digging for an answer online ... but as there was no answer here, I figured I'd share what I found in case others stumble across it as well.

    Apparently WiFi router MAC addresses get tagged with geolocation info and stored in a system (which is used by Google) so when you look things up connected to a certain access point, you may be "located" in the wrong spot. I had this problem when I moved.

    How do you change it? Go to Skyhook and change it!
