    hi,
I own a iPod Touch 1G and I would like to use it as GPS..
there is some kind of external GPS reciver or something like that to make the iPod recive sattelite reception and then navigate with it - no need software.. i mean the item makes the sattelite locate you.. like the recivers that need to be bought to the iPhone 2G

With the advent of 3.0 & App+accessory links I don't think it'll be too long before someone makes a GPS extension/accessory.

    Er.
There's offline maps but I don't think it does turn by turn.
    So no GPS. Nope.
Unless your city has city wide Wi-Fi

I believe so. I would do some research on it, xGPS does have some limitations on the maps, for now.
