Video to Configure laptop into an wi-fi hotspot

    http://reviews.cnet.com/4660-10165_7-6754630.html?tag=vid.2

Internet connection sharing disabled by administrator

You need to be admin or have local admin previlages.

    gpedit.msc
    computer configuration
    administrative template
    network connections
probihit use of internet connection sharing on your DNS domain (disable)

Download the proxy server software from
    http://www.youngzsoft.net/ccproxy/index.html

Now your settings should look something like this

    wireless adapter settings:

    ip:192.168.0.1
    subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    default gateway:blank(none)
    Dns servers: blank (none)

    Ipod touch settings:
go to settings->wi-fi->select your hotspot name you selected in the above video
tap on to ">" and check the following
    "DHCP" has to be selected

    scroll down
    Http proxy: Manual
server: Ip address of your CCproxy client (in ccproxy select "options" check the local ip address is your wirless adapter

    ip)
    port:808

now check on your safari browser, you should be able to browse any page you like

    Good luck and happy surfing

Note: with this method you could even connect in your office, VPN support on Ipod not required any more.

Maybe there's only a wired network, and you want to refresh installer sources and whatnot.

This would also be useful for other wifi devices, for example a Wii of other things that mosltly connect via wifi. I am certainly going to set this up, as I don't have my own connection in my home.

I just set up a wireless ad hoc network in Vista and share internet. It's only temperary but useful for SSHing into my ipod with no wifi around.

anyone know why this didn't work for me?

i remember using this exact same method months ago, i switched routers and noticed that the new router wouldn't work unless my wireless card was unplugged so i just took it out and forgot.

now i want to be able to get my ipod to connect to the internet, my internet will still function when i have the card plugged in, but after going through this process my pc won't detect the ad hoc network

i'm 100% certain i've done everything correctly(including sharing internet connection)

    please help!

im guessing this also works for the Nintendo DS, since it wont work with the linksys wrt54gx2 unless you change the basic rate
