if I make a symlink from var/root/downloads to var/root/media/downloads, does it work both ways? like if I download a song from safari with the plugin to ~downloads will it show up in ~media/downloads, and if I have a file in ~media/downloads will an app that looks in ~downloads recognize it?

Yes, whatever you put in either folder will show up in both.

    i made a link from /var/mobile/media/downloads
    to /var/root/media/downloads,
so that any file i downloaded off safari would appear in my iSlsk library and then i could import it into my music library,

however, it wont show up in the Islsk library, i think because in
    /var/root/media/downloads
there is the link at takes you to the other folder (/var/mobile/media/downloads ),
and not the actual files that were in the other folder.

is there any way to actually move the files, not just make a link? or am i doing it wrong

    thanks for any help

well he typed the wrong command above...actually you described incorrectly the folder to use
    it's /var/mobile/Downloads

    should be:
    Code:
    ln -s /var/root/Downloads /var/mobile/Downloads

It's just a link. Me I wanted to have the files in Downloads copied automatically to another. So that when I import my islsk songs, it stays in a folder for me to later copy to my comp when i'm back near my computer. But that's not possible. We need 'folder actions' for the iphone...
