Back on my blackra1ned 3.1.2 iPod touch 3G 32 GB. I occasionally got some animation lag and some hanging here and there and had about 130 mb of free ram. Cydia took a really long time to load too.

now on my jailbroken with Spirit 3.1.3, nothing lags at all and it's running better and faster than 3.1.2 unjailbroken, and i seriously have 170-185 mb free ram. now my animations never lag and my ipod stopped occasionally hanging. Cydia now loads really fast, almost in a third of the time as before.

I have all the same jailbreak apps as last time: Winterboard, SBSettings, MXTube, iBlueNova, Infinidock, and a few others.

Is there a performance boost in 3.1.3 or in spirit, or did something awesome just happen to my ipod. are you guys sure that Apple didn't increase the CPU freq. in 3.1.3?

(Spirit Came with it, Saw the update on my iPhone 3G) And now Cydia is way more snappy and I can actually see the animation on close to springboard instead of just a crash.

And yea, I see better performance to

I think I found out why. The 3.1.3 memory frequency is 200 MHz, but back on 3.1.2 it was 100 MHz. Unless my Terminal is displaying incorrect info, Apple overclocked the memory.

You had to restore to get 3.1.3 did you not? The restore could have mad your iPod faster. Because it deletes useless stuff. Thus a fast iPod.
