    POP3 create folder, E.G Keep folder, in Mail.app

    Thought i'd just bring this up because today i was trying to make folders in my pop3 mail account and couldnt find a tutorial anywhere, but through a little tinkering i was able to make a folder.
    (this requires a jailbroken device)

    so here goes

    1. ssh into your device (search google for how to do this or go here:http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163253)
    2.Navigate to /var/mobile/Library/Mail then locate your pop account (it will start with POP-xxxxxxxx...)
    3.Duplicate one of the mailboxes e.g. INBOX.mbox and rename it to "whatever you want".mbox
    4. go into your new folder (the one you just created) then into the "messages" sub-folder and remove its contents
    5.Then locate a file called.mboxCache.plist (this is a hidden folder and you may need to tell your ssh client to show hidden files)
    6.using a text editor add this to the file
    <dict>
    <key>MailboxAttributes</key>
    <interger>257</interger>
    <key>MailboxName</key>
    <string>"name of folder you created previously"(the .mbox extension is not required)</string>
    <dict>
    add this just above the last three tags (</array>,</dict>,</plist>)
    7. save and upload the file back to your device in the same location it was originally
    8. respring/reboot your device and open mail your new folder should now be there

    hope this helps some people

    Couldn't you just log onto your email account on your computer and make folders?

    My Yahoo! email has folders.
