Hey guys, I'm buying a MacBook Pro 17" soon, and I've heard that the unibody scratches fairly easily, and an obvious solution to this would be to buy a skin / case, etc. but I've also heard that the MacBook Pros heat up something fierce (mainly when the CPU and GPU are put to some serious work, but even just when doing some basic multitasking) and am worried that putting a case over it would cause it to get hotter. (or at very least cause the fans to speed up, and be quite noisy)

Can anyone who has a skin / case on your MacBook Pro backup / deny this? Because I really do not want to overheat something that is going to cost me nearly AUD$4000.

Also, on the scratching issue, can anyone with a MacBook Pro backup / deny this too?

    Thank you so much guys,

    Liam.

Just get a cooling pad and then find a good case at your local apple store.

I got a MacBook Pro 15.4'' 2 weeks ago. Its the new April 2010 model with unibody. I don't think unibody scratches easily but cleaning it is difficult. About the heat, well it isn't gonna burn your MacBook Pro, but I am also using a nice cooling pad, and the macbook "sits" on 2 rubber-made things so it doesn't get scratched

I have a 13 inch MacBook Pro, and I have not seen a single scratch on it yet. Maybe Im just careful with it.
