you should definatley go with a Mac. Vista is pretty much horrible.

First of all, do you even know what programs people use for Engineering? I mean, both Mac OS X and Windows have the software for it (I'm guessing).

And a Mac Book / Mac Book Pro / hell, any Intel Mac can run both Windows and Mac OS X.

Be it at the same time or just booting into one or another.

I'm in engineering, and I don't know of one student that has a Mac in my major. One reason for this though is that we can by our laptops with all the engineering software on it already...some deal between Lenovo and my school i guess. Our school also has a lot of technical support for PCs and not nearly as much for Macs. I would look at what the school says. I haven't had any problems with my PC laptop, but it is running XP and not vista.

well i know that. its that the programs that the school gives out is Windows.
and yea i could have her dual boot.

same with UVA. but they also offer Macs through the school but without the programs for your major.

i just wanted to see what people thought about it.
Any other college students out here have a preference?
