I've started over 4 times there has to be some other problem
It worked fine for me, after one slight problem. After I finished the last command, when the iPod rebooted, it had the picture of the cable connecting to itunes on the screen. I connected to itunes and restored from the last backup, and when it failed to reboot after restoring I put it into DFU mode and did the last part of the instructions again (the parts after it tells you to restore with itunes).
It works fine now, thanks OP!
We need a GUI
I got it jailbroken and am now in Cydia.
Thank you Dev-Team and everyone in this thread for making this possible. Now on to WinterBoard.
YES!!!! And it needs to be able to work with PPC macs. The reason some of us are getting the "bad CPU type in executable" error is because it only works with Intel macs. Looks like the Dev team has a lot of work ahead of them.
Also, where do I find the file to rename to 221.ipsw and 211.ipsw? I downloaded the firmware updates, and I just have 2 folders that aren't the firmware bundles that you have to rename.
are you using safari? because it automatically extracts the contents of the file. Use firefox to download the firmwares and you should get a .ipsw file
Oh okay, that should do the trick. Is there anyway to rezip it or do I have to download it all over again in firefox?
I did everything right(I think) I followed the guide(my ipod is on 2.2.1, is that OK?)
when I run redsn0w look
and nothing happens!!!
I get to this point on terminal then this reply:./rslite: Bad CPU type in executable.
------------------double post merged------------------ok, I get it bad cpu type because I have ppc mac; hope to see a version for this processor
thanks for the work
