Okay. As far as everyone is concerned, windows XP and the systems of the kind cant run on an ipod touch (sadly). However I was just thinking about how I could get all the main system files and folders of, say, a (very stripped down) Mac, SSH into my ipod, delete everything (I can see a problem here) and replace them with the Mac files. Of course this is risky and I doubt it will work. But does anyone have any opinions on this??

P.S. I not sure if this thread is in the correct spot. but it doesn't belong in the software section either, so I just stuck it in the mods.

The iPhone OS is a slimmed/stripped down mobile version of Mac OS X.

MinivMav is the closest you will ever get to that.

MinivMac is an option but the softwre is outdated and redundant. Also, the iphone/ipod is just not powerful enough to run anything similar to xp/os x (screen too small too). Our only hope for other oses are like WM and android (also check iphonelinux.org). As for the SSH, don't even try. The iPhoneOS was built FOR the iphone and OS X FOR the mac. It just wouldn't work.

(and if you mess with the partitions and mess up you're screwed. It would be a true iphone/ipod brick)

There are many themes for winterboard that make your iPod look like Mac OSX, if you want it to look like Mac, but you cannot delete all files and just put new ones back in and expect your iPod to boot up fine.

No. You would mess up your iPod/iPhone by doing that.

    He's right.

Hmm I guess so too. As for bricking my iPod by doing that, i doubt it, cause I can always perform a restore function - and if you ever do actually brick your ipod, delete everything in it via SSH and then restore

should work fine. And what I actually wanted from the Mac OS X is the cool 'sliding' dock.
