It has the processing power, and already runs a variation of OSX, and can emulate OS7 easily.

Wouldn't it be possible to put these onto the Touch? Obviously modified versions, but following the requirements, I don't see why this wouldn't be possible.

    What do you guys think?

    Possibly...

In theory, it is possible since the ipod touch does have the components of an computer. But the modding, drives and other things needed to do this is extremely hard, possibly even impossible

I'm posting about getting OS 8, 9, and 10 on the Touch. Do you honestly think that I don't already have MiniVmac and a customized .dsk of OS 7.5.5?

The iPhone & iPod Touch already run a ported version of OS X/BSD/Unix. Mobile OS designed for Mobile device. No need to shove a desktop in there. No point.

Why not? It would be easier to have a full on portable computer than to carry around a notebook.

Plus, the stock iPhone/iPod Touch OS is just a "mobile" OS - it can't replace a full function OS in it's current state.

Well, a full function Desktop OS can't exactly run properly on a tiny little Mobile device now can't it? What is it you need a full featured Desktop for?

OS 7.5.5 runs fine - albeit in an emulator, but still.

As far as what I'd use a full OS for, I'd use it for the same exact things I would use my notebook for.

What does it matter? If I want a full OS on my Touch, what effect does that have in your life?
